Apple & Coffee
Exciting news, friends. After several folks raised the possibility to me, I've subscribed to Apple Music solely so I can bring these playlists to more of you. You can follow me here and find ALL of my prior mixtapes.
Less exciting news, but could spur future exciting news, I set up a BuyMeACoffee page at the encouragement of a friend. It's a little way to throw a few bucks of financial support my way if you dig what I do and what to help me grow it. I'll never charge for access or exclusives or anything like that, but you can help me bring the mixtapes to more platforms if you enjoy and want to help me spread the love!
And hey, if you like it, why not share the mix or this newsletter with a friend?
Globetrot
Created for seeing the world.
I wish I could travel the world, the whole world, and see every music scene and record shop. I wish I had time and money and freedom to do it all. I don't. Not many people do. But while we can't hop on a plane and globetrot to our heart's desire, we can at least explore the world through music.
I love finding new genres and folks traditions, and I especially love seeing how they fuse with modern pop and rock music. I've had a number of these songs bookmarked for mixtapes for a while, but rather than wait for the perfect opportunity to slot them into something bigger, I decided to package them all together here. Some are new, most are old, all of them make me incredibly happy.
Hopefully you'll find something here that you like, and we can plan our next international trip together. We going to Malawi or Vietnam?
Love you all. Hope you enjoy!

I've spent the past week or so with Covid (and 4 of those days isolating from Kristin, who seemed to get it before me), which meant I haven't been able to do much of anything besides sit on the couch and wait. During that time I picked up Red Dead Redemption 2 again.
I'm not the biggest video game guy, but this game is one of the biggest masterpieces of any medium I've ever experienced. If you have a PS4/PS5, you owe it to yourself to immerse yourself in this world. No other word for it; it's immersive. If you don't have a PS4/PS5, maybe borrow one?
The story is great, but I spend most of my time riding around the map, taking in the breathtaking American landscape and listening to the gorgeous western score.
No wonder I'm in a rootsy mood. Come see this Appalachian godsend with me in the basement of a barbecue restaurant.
RIYL: Tyler Childers, Lost Dog Street Band, Ian Noe.

Some Other Music I Found In Other Mediums That I Love
(that you might love too!)
Francis Cabrel - I watched Broadcast News for the first time a while ago, and Albert Brooks's character was listening to this guy in once scene and I had to Shazam it, because I was very into it. Guess what? Still into it.
Texas Tornados - I watched Tin Cup for the first time ever a few weeks ago. Hadn't even heard of it before. But it's a Kevin Costner sports movie? It's perfect. And, gang, this song rips.
Flaco Jiminez - Ok so this is wild happenstance, but Flaco Jiminez is in the aforementioned Texas Tornados and I had bookmarked an album of his to listen to no less than a week prior to watching Tin Cup because this cool t-shirt company posted a series on him, and I just had to know what all the fuss was about. He's an accordion god, and if my buymeacoffee gets enough $$$ I promise, I'll buy and wear the shirt. >_>
The Back Porch Majority - One of my guilty pleasures is terrible Disney live action films from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. They are simple and wonderful and probably a little problematic at the very least. So naturally I watched The Apple Dumpling Gang during my Covid week, and this band does the theme, and it honestly rules. Also, this is an incredible band name. I can't wait to dive in deeper.
